Rachel was the eldest of all the Mermaids, besides Lydia herself, but she looked just as young and gorgeous as all the other girls, maybe even more so. It’s in her nature to be shy and quiet, but the clients that she got were completely into that sort of thing, and they especially loved her eyes. They were emerald green, hence her nick-name “Gem”, because her eyes glittered like an emerald. Although she may be quiet, she was completely self confident and was always in a cheerful mood, whether it was from having a good session with a client or from getting a great parking spot. She was incredibly intelligent, which was something that she often hid. As soon as she arrived in The Lagoon, Lydia told her that guys really didn’t like smart girls, so Gem downplayed her intelligence and acted like all the other girls did.

I can’t bring Emma up in a place like this, even if we do have the upper hand, right now. I need to get her somewhere safe, but first I just wanted to thank you…for everything. You know, you were the first guy I dated after everything happened with Daniel and Emma and before you, I never thought that I could love again. I thought that being with someone and being in love only meant pain. And then I met you and everything was so different. You changed my whole perspective on life, and you changed me, too. Not only that, but you found my daughter and I can’t even express how grateful I am to you because of that. You gave me back the very best and most important part of me that I thought I had lost.
